Hailing all the way from the wonderfully chilly Alaska to our bright sunny shores, we're excited for the launch of Anchorage brewing Co! Anchorage has a reputation that precedes them, from its big complex sour ales brewed with Brettanomyces and barrel aged fermentation to the recent stellar Phantasm IPAs and big, bold beautiful stouts, there’s no shortage of great beer.
Founded in 2010 by Gabe Fletcher, the brewery lives by its motto, to “have an unwavering commitment to making the world more interesting by taking extreme steps to produce some of the most unique beers ever made.”
Anchorage uses high quality ingredients in their beers and approaches brewing with a certain meticulousness, which, when coupled with the brewery consistently challenging the limits for craft beer, results in exciting and great tasting beers all around. By mainly using a direct to consumer model, Anchorage is able control all aspects of the beer, including storing and transporting which in turn also helps to keep up the beer quality.
This time around we have 2 IPAs featuring Phantasm Powder, which is derived from NZ Malborough Sauv Blac grape skin and are rich in thiol percursors that are known to heighten hop flavours and aromas. Heartfelt IPA was brewed and DDH with Phastasm Powder, Nelson Sauvin and Mosaic hops. The result is a luxurious blend of tropical juiciness with a long lasting bitterness. Personal Space is a TIPA brewed and DDH with Phastasm Powder, Nelson Sauvin and Sabro hops, and is just as juicy and as it is hoppy.
The Oracle is a beautifully red sour ale fermented and aged in Missouri oak foeders and finished with Alaska blueberries and haskap berries, while May The Wild Prevail is a sour ale fermented in French oak barrels and finished on pineapple and passionfruit and dry hopped with Strata.
Anadromous, a black sour ale brewed with Summit hops and fermented in French Oak Foudres, and then aged in French Oak Pinot Noir and whisky barrels with Brett, Pedio and Lacto and finally triple fermented naturally in the bottle rounds up the 5 beers available in this batch and these are all super limited! So grab a can or bottle and try it yourself!
